A bookmarklet that turns any band page into Anki flashcards — band info, member faces, and more.

How to use

  1. Go to any band page on Metal Archives — URLs look like:
    https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Metallica/138
  2. Click 🎸 metal2anki in your bookmarks bar. A popup appears, fetches member photos, and adds the band to your deck.
  3. Repeat for as many bands as you want. Your deck is saved in your browser's localStorage.
  4. Click ⬇ Download CSV in the popup.
  5. In Anki: File → Import → select the CSV → choose Cloze note type.
Clicking the bookmarklet when not on a band page shows your deck manager — export or clear your deck from there.

Band Info

Band photo + cloze deletions for genre, years active, themes, country, and location.

band · identify

Identify Band

Band photo on the front — fill in the band name on the back. Only generated when a photo is found.

member · info

Member Info

Member photo (if available) + cloze for their name and role within the band.

member · identify

Identify Member

Member's face on the front — fill in their name, band, and role. Only generated when a photo is found.
